good talk

My Cross to Bear.  The only popular British Royals are Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and Prince William and Kate, all very goodlooking and proper-acting (in their youth, Elizabeth was a very nicelooking girl and Philip quite handsome).  The rest of them, for the most-part, have acted quite wild and shocking.  Yes, I saw the photo of Fergie having her toes sucked by that bald-guy while her 3-yr old daughter, Beatrice, watched.  Prince Harry (name actually is Henry) maintained a low-profile for years after photos of him shooting billiards in the nude while in Las Vegas, Normal Folk don't act this way.  A huge thing is being made of Harry marrying Meghan Markle, who's Black and divorced, and I have to listen to it forever, I mean, why would I or anyone else care (offspring the Black Prince?)?  My father was with the Duke of Windsor, the former Edward the VIII (eh, been 8 Henrys, too), that is, this guy had been the King of England, for an entire-day, and never mentioned it.  Tho, I asked him, of course, how was the Duke, and he said, that he was very good (See My Blog for Nov. 16, 2008).  What Prince Harry and his intended do are of little concern to me, but I have to look and listen to it every time I turn-on the tube, with it increasing as the date grows nearer.  Harry seems like he's pretty good, ruggedly goodlooking, well-spoken, and has other fine-qualities, Meghan is probably pretty good, they have their own lives to lead and I just don't want to learn of it (maybe a trait passed-down from the Old Man), but will have it forced on me.  To Harry and Meghan, Congrats and Best Wishes       -Ed

good talk

The Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, ordered Operation Blue Star (June 1 to June 8, 1984), in which the Indian Army sought to destroy arms and explosives gathered by Sikh Militants in Punjabi, during this the Golden Temple of the Sikhs in Armitsar (been inside, real-nice, not that big), was heavily-damaged.  On Oct. 31, 1984, 2 of Indira Gandhi's Sikh bodyguards gunned-her-down, shot her maybe 50 times, they were eventually hung.  Her assassination led to riots in which 3,000 Sikhs were killed.  Violence continued on both sides, Hindu and Sikh, in May, 1985, Ed landed at the New Delhi Airport, in India for the first time, this was the weekend in which 30 people in Delhi and New Delhi, on trains and buses, had been killed by Sikhs leaving transistor-radios which were actually bombs, people would find the "transistor radios" and fiddle with the dials, the bombs would go-off (it's not funny).  I immediately took a bus from the airport to the New Delhi main train station, as I wanted to go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal (See My Blog for Aug. 30, 2010), and the bus-driver was nervous, and rightly-so.  Due to this wave of killings, 3 Sikh leaders were arrested, as with in the U.S., in India, the accused is also entitled to a lawyer, of the one Sikh leader, the Indian authorities said ...He's rich, he doesn't need a lawyer...  Within a day, he died under interrogation, having given-up nothing.  A little danger is exciting to Ed.  300 plus were killed at a mosque in the Sinai yesterday, close to where I was in April.  Prior to this, Egypt, the best country for a tourist in the World, was getting close to no tourists, due to Islamic Militants, killing a couple hundred people over the last few years, the ones killed then and now aren't tourists.  Tourists are so cowardly, especially the Americans, I feel so-sorry for the Egyptian People, as a main-source of their income is tourism, I don't know how most of the 90 mil survive.  I'm going to go-out and come-up with a new batch of Readers, the ones I have suck their thumbs and drink mothers' milk

good talk

I just donated blood in Las Vegas (give mine to Preemies), for the 50th time, 16 times in San Diego, most people don't donate because they're afraid of a little needle, being .. .. like that is a serious-problem.  They gave me a gift of 2 lbs. of Dunkin' Donuts Coffee, of all things, I've already re-gifted.  Al Franken was a Comedian in his previous-life, lighten-up.  In 2008, I voted for the Libertarian Candidates of Bob Barr for President, and Wayne Allyn Root, for Vice-President.  Wayne lives around here and writes a real-good column, and I watch him on TV, See "Viewpoints" in the Las Vegas Review-Journal for Nov. 19, 2017, L. Brent Bozell's column for that date is also good.  I always use name-brand 91 Octane in my 6 cyl.'s, for the recent long-drive, I put in 2 STP's, it cleans out your engine, you feel like you have jet-fuel, touch the pedal and Avalon jumps

good talk

Often talked-about today is the 1987 Breeders' Cup Classic, on Nov. 21, at Hollywood Park, with Ferdinand and that year's Kentucky Derby Winner, Alysheba, pounding-down the stretch of the mile and a quarter, neck and neck, vying whose will the stronger, Ferdinand by a nose at the wire, ensuring him of that year's Horse of the Year.  A lot of people have said that the Jap who sent Ferdinand to the slaughterhouse should be dragged-outside and publicly horsewhipped, I'm just sorry that Ferdinand was murdered and defiled (refusing his father's, King Priam's, entreaty of ransom, Achilles dragged Hector's naked-body behind his chariot past the walls of Troy thrice), Ferdinand only brought joy, he never hurt anybody.  See the "Ferdinand Fee" and "Friends of Ferdinand"

good talk

See My Blog for Nov. 9, 2014.  Chalk for last week's Breeders' Cup Classic were Gun Runner and Arrogate, both 4-year olds going-off at 2-1.  Arrogate was Horse of the Year last year, and won this past Dubai Cup over Gun Runner, but in the 2017 BC "Classic", tho he was ridden by the great Mike Smith, the best he could do was a dead-heat for 5th, regarded as a horse who's lost his focus, he's been retired as the all-time leading North American Money Winner.  Out at the track last Sat., all-day I only saw maybe 3 Black people, you'd think they'd take an interest, me, I love horses, I wish I had a horsey here right-now, I've got a bag of apples, he/she could have all he wanted.  I watched the 1986 Kentucky Derby at a Sportsbook on the LV Strip, seeing Willie Shoemaker's masterful-trip in taking Ferdinand thru an "invisible hole" to secure the lead and victory, even in replay, I don't know how they got thru the pack, I saw no opening.  And in 1987, Ferdinand won the Breeders' Cup.  When I learned, that in 2002, Ferdinand had been killed in a Japanese Slaughterhouse for pet food, it went all the way thru me.  A former groom ...He was so gentle... He'd come over to me and press his head against me. He was so sweet...

good talk

This past Friday and Sat., legendary Del Mar Racetrack hosted the 34th Breeders' Cup for the first time, with horses from all-over the World, flying in on private planes, determined to compete against the best.  Del Mar was begun in 1937 by a partnership of actors, led by Bing Crosby, in 1938, it was the site for the duel between Seabiscuit (the horse that gave a nation hope during the depths of the Great Depression (?) and Ligaroti, the first of many fabled races.   Strangely, it was only recently that Del Mar made the track-improvements needed to host a BC, and it was such a big-success that it could well be back in 2019.  I wasn't going to attend, but on Friday, the desire to go on Sat., when they had most of the big races, ending with the "Classic", deciding the true-best of the equine-champions, grew and grew inside me until, if I couldn't be there on Sat., I wasn't going to want to live anymore.  At 5:30, I made my way to "Atlas Tickets", off of Sports Arena, I had bought tickets there before. They only had a couple left, I bought a "Beach Infield".  I asked, how do you stay in business competing against StubHub, and was told, we're cheaper than them (since 1989), oh, I see.  Jon, Louis, and Benny are real-affable guys and nice to talk with, and I paid $125 for a face-value of $200, out at the track every-one I talked to paid either face or more.  They handle all-events, 619-222-7800.  The "Beach Infield" is a section of the infield where you have the best viewing of the start and finish, you're walking-on thick sand they trucked-in, it has it's own bar and comfy chairs and umbrellas, and everybody is friendly and excited, you gotta show your ticket to get-in, and it was so-much fun.  It was a perfect-day, 71 and blue skies, and while you're in luxury, over in the Grandstand it was totally-dark throughout the day, due to its angle, and much colder.  The viewing is better than the lower tier of the GS (2 tiers), tho in the upper you can see the horses run on the other side of the track.  But in the BI, you're pretty close to the horses, you can hear the hooves, you can hear the Jocks use the whip, it was fantastic.  I bet $100 on West Coast in the Classic, thinking that its 8-1 would increase, but being a Baffert horse, it went-off at 4-1, moot, anyway, as it finished 3rd, behind winner, Gun Runner, and Collected.  The most fabulous day.  A sweet girl I met, Taelor, told me I had beautiful-eyes, I hope she writes

good talk

I just came from "seeing" an Opthamologist at the VA, ha, my pupils are way-dilated, big as saucers.   I had seen him before, an older Jewish guy (U. of Chicago Med), we talk current-events and politics (likes Trump, most of the better people do), he had previously told me that during the Vietnam Era, he had used-magnets to pull slivers of metal out of Marines' eyes, I'm sure that he did as good a job as could be done.  When in LV, he likes the Bellagio, says they treat you real-well, and he likes their food, we're glad to hear that.  He's a real-fine guy (they're not all bad).  Oh, my eyes are hanging in there.  The Moslems have been subjugated by the White People for the past 500 years, first the Europeans, then them and the Americans, it's unsurprising that they would someday rebel.  Trump is correct in saying that they should be more-discerning about whom is allowed in the U.S., there's millions of Moslems living here who would like nothing better than to cut our throats.  This guy in New York, was so dumb and inept that of the 8 he killed, 5 were Hispanics, who are neither fish nor fowl to them, it's the White People he wanted to kill, he's a failure all the way-around.  While we're talking about ethnicity and race, most White Americans think that American Blacks are already getting more than they deserve, and are tired of their never-ending complaints

good talk

Congrats to the Astros, I saw them play at Enron Field, during the 3 years it was this (changed in 2002), people who thought they had a half mil in stock found-out it was worth a few thou.  I don't know why the Dodgers trotted-out Yu Darvish for this, as he was recently lit-up.  I'm glad to see this current-emphasis on Human Trafficking, a world-wide problem.  The dark N. African men prefer the light European girls for this, often obtained thru false employment-opportunities, a girl would think she was going to be, say, working the desk at a hotel, only to be forced into prostitution, Lithuania was a favorite.  When I was in Lebanon in 2004, I saw signs throughout the country, advertising that within was a "Super Night Club", of course, I asked, what are those, we call 'em brothels
