good talk

Kelly Pavlik retired recently after his Supermiddleweight Fight for Feb. 23 with Andre Ward one of the best boxers in the world was cancelled due to Ward's shoulder operation.  Kelly "30" is from a traditionally Slovak area of Youngstown, Ohio and he grad from a vocational high school.  During the 50's and early 60's Youngstown was known as "Bombsville USA" due to over 50 incidents of people trying to start their cars only to have them blow up.  Earnie is from next door in Warren the guys from around there keep their socks up with thumbtacks.  Pavlik retired with a record of 40-2 with 34 knockouts.  The only time I bet on Kelly was when he fought Jermain Taylor and was a 2-l underdog and I won a lot, I had seen what he had done to Edison Miranda 4 months before also as a 2-l underdog I was pretty confident. an   Kelly has been in Rehab for alcoholism twice and gets in trouble while under the Influence always in Youngstown he struck a Mahoning County Deputy during the performance of his duties he was shoved through a window and had 60 stitches and a year ago Christmas a tree ran out in front of him while he was driving (a good lawyer got him out of a DUI) and these are only the ones I know about.  Bob Arum said that he had a lot of money invested in Pavlik and wanted a return taking him out to Ca. to live and train but Pavlik said he was devastated after Ward cancelled and said he was tired of the brutality that boxing rendered on him physically and that he had retained about all of the big money he had made and was now going back to Youngstown to open a gym probably a bad idea.  Pavlik's only 2 losses were in 2008 to Bernard Hopkins a clean liver who took him to school suprising everybody that Kelly lasted the 12 rounds as he absorbed a terrible beating and to Sergio Martinez who he was leading until an eyelid was sliced and he could only see out of one eye and he also finished that fight on his feet.  Hopefully things turn out well for the troubled talented guy with the big heart.
