good talk

It's about time that Roman Polanski is going to get what he deserves. This Foreigner didn't Have to be Allowed into this Country and then Allowed to Prosper Greatly and How did he Repay Our Kindness? He Commits this Crime and then Flees the Country to Avoid Going to Prison but Believes that He's a Special Person who shouldn't be Punished. Susan Atkins just Died, it's Strange how the Threads of this Case are Coming Together, Polanski would have had a Son, "40," today. She was a Woo---Mon.....Cris Arreola did real well under the Circumstances, Klitschko said, he has a Great, Great Chin. Arreola's Corner was Wise to Throw in the Towel after the 10th Round, in his Desperation Cris Could have gotten Badly Hurt. As it is Cris made a Lot of Money, had a Good Boxing Lesson and can go on to Better Things in Boxing so Long as he avoids the Klitschkos. They showed Arreola's Wife and little girl in the Crowd, his Wife was Pretty Fine, Classy-Looking, you wouldn't think it, you'd think Arreola's Wife would be some Tattooed Skank, the Female Version of Himself. Cris Aspires to Better than Himself, Good. When I was in 10th and 11th Grade my Parents signed me up for a 1-Day Retreat. Both Years this was in January, this was for Catholic Boys who went to Public School and was Held at St. Peter's on the other side of Akron. There were a lot of Boys there from Firestone High. This was on a Saturday, you go to Mass and Pray all day. But each time We also had a Speaker and for the Retreat in January, 1963 our Speaker was Father Charles Dismas Clark, "the Hoodlum Priest." In 1961 there was quite a Good Movie titled,"Hoodlum Priest," based on the Life of Father Clark. I was Really Impressed that our Speaker was this Guy who had had a Movie Made about Him. Charles Dismas Clark was born in 1901 and was one of 13 Children of a Pennsylvania Coal Miner. He became a Priest and in 1933 a Judge in St. Louis invited him to come to His Courtroom to View "....The Hopelessness and Suffering of the Offenders....." After That Father Clark visited Jails and Prisons and became an Advocate of Prison Reform and Rehabilitaton. In 1959 Father Clark and Morris Shenker, a St. Louis Defense Attorney Started "Dismas House" with 60 Ex-Cons. Non-Sectarian, this was the First Halfway House in the Country. Father Clark Envisioned a Place where "....Friendless, Homeless, Powerless Men Could Have Lodging, Food, Clothes and a Helping Hand until they Found a Job....." I've often thought that if Somebody gets out of Prison without a Decent Job to go to that he would of course reoffend. Most of Us Know that it can be Hard to Find a Job, so How does Somebody get a Job if they Have Prison Convict on their Resume. Society Should Get these People a Job. There was much Initial Criticism of "Dismas House" but the Charismatic Father Clark got his Way and Today Halfway Houses are Commonplace throughout the Country. I Heard Father Clark Speak only Months before he Died in August, 1963, by that Time 2000 Ex-Cons had Passed Through Dismas House and only 5% had Gone Back to Prison. We often don't acknowledge the Influence that our Parents have on our lives, Dismas was "the Good Thief."

good talk

Steve Bornfeld, sbornfeld@reviewjournal.com, Writes a Very Good Colum for the RJ and Recently has Used His Nimble Literary Wit to Describe the Ongoing Corruption Scandal at the Local ABC Affiliate. Tonight Vitali Klitschko faces Cristobal Arreola at the Staples Center in L.A. for the WBC Heavyweight Championship which Klitschko Holds. Vitali and his Brother Vladimir, who I've Seen Fight, are the 2 Best Heavyweights in the World. Ukranian, their Father was a Soviet Air Force Colonel and Both Have PhD's in Physical Education. 8 Years Ago Vladimir tried to get a Library Card at the Flamingo Library in Las Vegas, he was Turned Away Because he had no Picture ID. Returning with the Required ID a Couple Days Later There Was a Big Picture in the RJ of Vlad Proudly Holding Up His Library Card. In the Accompanying Article Vladimir Said That the World is a Jungle and the Only Way to Survive is by Being Strong and that the Way to do That is by Studying Books and That He Wants People to do This. A Couple Years Ago Vitali Ran for but Lost the Race for Mayor of Kiev. The Klitschkos are sort of like Fine Men. By the 2nd Round Cris is going to Forget that he's Fighting for the Mexican People who Have Never had a Heavyweight Champion or that he's Fighting for his Grandmother or that He's Fighting for Whatever or Whomever in that He'll be Feeling the Good Doctor's Ministrations in Resounding Thuds on his Noggin. He'll then Begin to Think of How he'll be able to Survive in this Activity in Which all Weaknesses are Layed Bare. I See Arreola putting up a Good Fight but Being Stopped say in the 6th Round. I'll be Watching It at the Palms Sportsbook, Stop in. While I was in Buenos Aires I Immersed Myself in the Tango. The Tango Began in the Brothels of B.A. in the 1890's and Gained Respectability in Paris in the 1920's. I Went to 2 Tango Dinners and Shows Neither of Which was as Good as La Ventana 2 Years Ago. The One Show Began with 2 Knifefighters Circling Each Other in a Nod to Tango's Steamy Origins. The "Goncho" or Hook in Which one Partner Puts His or Her Leg Quickly In Between the Length of His Partner's Legs is the Most Sensual Movement in All of Dance and Can Only be Done by People in Their 20's and Few of Them. To Watch Excellent Tango Dancers is Very Exciting. I Took 4 Tango Lessons at the "Confiteria Ideal," a Hundred Year Old Tango Dance Hall. I Took l There 2 Years Ago, Each Lesson Lasts 2 and a Half Hours and Costs $7, Usually Around l P.M. Almost Every Day, Just Show Up, and the Girl Instructor at One Point Said, Dance with These Women, I replied None of Them Will Dance with Me (I wasn't too adroit), so She Said, Then Dance by Yourself. And I Did and Also at Times on this Past Trip. It Doesn't Pay to be Overly Proud in this Life (it takes 2 to Tango?). No, They Have Fine Instructors and I Love Them All and I Love the Confiteria Ideal. This Completes My Trip, I Think That I Might Have Given you Girls Fancy Ideas About Yourselves Going to Iguazu Falls and Seeing the "Devil's Throat" and Perhaps Having a Man Put a Butterfly on Your Shoulder, and I Must Ask You, as I Did for the Galapagos, Not to Go There, It's Too Much for You. I Hope that You All Have Enjoyed Reading About the Places that I've Been on My Trip as Much as I Enjoyed Being There.

The First "Monday Night Football" Game was September 21, 1970 with the Cleveland Browns Playing and Defeating the New York Jets 31-21. It was the Idea of Art Modell, the Owner of the Browns and so They Gave Him the First One. My Younger Brother Tom was a Senior in High School and He and his Friends Went Up to Cleveland from Akron to See This. All We Knew was that it was a NFL Game on a Strange Night, Nobody Knew That it was Going to Become a National Institution. That Tom Would Be Doing a Hundred-Mile Roundtrip in Going to This on a School Night Would Indicate that He Liked to Have a Good Time. Poor, poor Tom. From Rosario I took a 4-Hour Bus Ride to Buenos Aires. Marshall Loeb in his Column Called Buenos Aires the "Paris of South America." Actually There's no Louvre Facsimile or Anything Else that Reminds Me of Paris There, I Guess What Marshall Meant Was That It's a Real Good Place and That You'll Be Glad That You Went There. I Went to the "Boca Juniors Stadium" in the La Boca Section of Buenos Aires Where Native Son Diego Maradona Once Starred, Many or Most Consider Maradona and Pele to be the Best Football (Soccer) Players of All-Time. I Looked at the Stadium and the Museum Within. I Stayed 5 Nights in the Hub of the City, just $23 a Night, Pretty Decent and Just Down From a Sheration. I Was Just in Buenos Aires 2 Years Before but Saw More and Did More This Time. I Had the "Bife Lomo," the Best Steak in the World, it Comes From Cattle Fed on the Grass of the Pampas. I Went to the Pink Presidential Palace From Which Balcony Eva Peron Would Charm an Adoring Crowd. A Movie and Stage Star she Married Juan Peron, the President of Argentina. A Champion of Women's Rights and of the Downtrodden, the Beautiful Evita died from Uternine Cancer when she was "33." Much of the Established Power said Hooray for Cancer and were glad to See the Last of Her but She is Mourned Even Today by the Masses That She Tried to Help. Going to the Cemeterio de la Recoleta and to Evita's Family Crypt (Maria Eva Duarte) is a Right of Passage for all Visitors to Buenos Aires. The Catedral Metropolitana right across from the Pink Palace has the Crypt of the Liberator, Jose de San Martin. Most of What I Saw and Did in Buenos Aires I Just Walked to but for Things Further Out, the Stadium called "Lo Boca" and the Zoo (pretty good) I Used B.A.'s Excellent Subway Sytem (a City of 13 Million Needs One).

good talk

Lately There's Been a Lot in the Local Newspaper About Corruption in the Media, a Rising Movement, I'll Bet There's Many Who Would Enjoy Having Your Jobs and they will. Tonight Juan Manuel Marquez Fights Floyd Mayweather at the MGM here in Las Vegas. It Was Recently Revealed that One of Marquez' Training Methods is to Drink His Own Urine Twice a Day (he says that it tastes a lot better in the morning). Juan Says that he Has Been Doing This for His Last Few Fights (so over the past few years) and that it Replenishes Lost Nutrients (guess so). I've Been Alive for a Long Time and Have Been a Few Places and Try to Keep Up on Things and Have Never Heard of Anything Like This. Roger Mayweather, Floyd's Uncle and Trainer Had a Humerous Quote in the Newspaper Concerning This. We Can See Where One Might Be Able to Do This. I Saw Roger in his Youth Fight at the old "Showboat." This Was 22 Years Ago and the "Showboat" Stopped Having Boxing about 21 Years Ago. At Another Boxing Card Elsewhere I Commented to an Older Guy that the Showboat had Rather a Seedy Atmosphere and he said,"That's What I Liked About It, That It Was So Trashy." If You're Gonna Have Any Fun You've Gotta Walk On the Wild Side. So Far As Juan Manuel's Predilection for Drinking Urine, Should This Become Trendy I Think I'll Have to Leave It Alone. I Take a Lot of Vits and Mins, That'll Have to Do It for Me. So Far as This Mega-Fight Tonight I See Mayweather as Being a Lot Bigger Than Marquez and that his Unique Rolling-Shoulder Defense as Being Hard for Marquez to Penetrate. Marquez is a Very Accomplished Boxer and a Tough Son-of-a-Gun and I'm Sure that Mayweather Won't Be Able to Take Him Out so I See the Fight Going the Distance with Mayweather Winning. Oh, "Cox Communications" Sent Me a Letter of Apology Concerning that Money that They Japped Me Out Of and That They're Going to Send Me a Check for It. I Had Already Put Forth a Big Effort and It Hadn't Done Me Any Good, What, This Blog Did It For Me? The Squeeky Wheel........ Instead of You People Thinking for Yourselves With Your Weak Little Brains Which Has Resulted Only in Error, You Should Instead Listen to the Wise Old Ed.

good talk

Ohio State Has Lost Their Last 6 Games Against Very Good Opponents, it's Very Discouraging. Jim Tressel got Rich Quick by Winning the BCS National Championship in Only His 2nd Year at Ohio State and Only His 2nd Year as a Division 1-A Head Coach by Beating Miami even though a 14 Point Underdog but He hasn't done Anything Nearly so Worthy Since. There's Only 3 Great Coaches in College Football Today: Urban Meyer at Florida, Mack Brown at Texas and last but not Least Pete Carroll at Southern Cal. Jim Tressel is in the Next Tier of Coaches and is the Best That Ohio State Can Have, the 3 Great Ones Aren't Going Anywhere. And Jim is a Huge Step Up Over His Predecessor, John Cooper Who Had a Losing Record His First Year Which Portend of Things to Come, Cooper's Record Against Michigan was 2-11-1 and 7 Times in his 13 Years at Ohio State he Lost to Michigan and then Went On to Lose His Bowl Game. The People of Ohio Let This Putz Keep His Job Long After He Revealed Himself to be Incompetent. Without Making a Joke It Made Me Glad That I Had Left Ohio. Maybe Tres Should Take the Dale Carnegie Course, Couldn't Hurt. Of Great Interest is the September 26 Heavyweight Fight at Staple Center in L.A. Between Chris Arreola and Vitali Klitschko. I'd Like to See It but Don't Want to Go to L.A. just for the One Thing. I've Seen the Lakers Play There, Lots of Bad Seats in That Big Barn Although It'd be Good to Have Any Seat For That. Cristobal Arreola is a Mexican-American From Riverside And Due to His Power and Determination Has a "Puncher's Chance" Against Anybody. Many of the Mexican Boxers Are Willing to Die in the Ring and Arreola says,"......I'll Fight to My Last Breath......" And He Well May Have to Do This as Klitschko is One of the Best Boxers in the World. The Likeable Arreola was Asked if the Reason He Had so Many Tall Sparring Partners was so That They Could Emulate the 6'7'' Klitschko, He Replied, "......Of Course, Yeah......"

good talk

Why isn't the Mexican Olympic Team Any Good? They Don't Have Anybody Left Who Can Run, Jump or Swim. This Past Saturday Night I Watched Ohio State Play Southern Cal in Football. The SC Quarterback, Matt Barkley, is a True Freshman and I Never Thought One Could Start for Team Like SC and Not Only That But Play So Well in Front of 106,000 in an Away Game. I Had Heard of Barkley Even When He Was a Junior in High School at Mater Dei, Like Mickey Mantle in his 1951 Rookie Card, the Fair-Haired Boy, Splendid Youth.

All 19 of the Hijackers on 9-11 had had Legal Status in this Country, this Country is Dying by its Own Hand, a Suicide. Warren and I have Something in Common, we're Both Graduates of the "Dale Carnegie Course." Where I Worked at Payed for My Taking It, I Took the Basic Course, there Were a Lot of Salesmen in There. I Won for the "Most Enthusiastic" Speech, I was Almost Leaping About, in fact I Was Doing This, Well, it was Getting Late in the Course and I hadn't Won Anything, It was No Time for Half-Measures. And I had That Pencil for a Very Long Time. You Learn a Lot of Great Things in the Dale Carnegie Course that will Stand you In Good Stead for the Rest of Your Life. Although the U.S. has only 5% of the World's Population it has 60% of its Lawyers. Not Many Societies have Litigated Themselves to Greatness and this Won't Be the First. The Primary Purpose of Litigation of Any Type is so That Lawyers Can Make Money. Generally Lawyers Are a Drain on Our Declared System of Free Enterprise. That Incident at Harvard with that Professor of African-Americans Studies, Henry Gates, Really Made Me Think. There Were No Great Cities in Sub-Sahara Africa, you Never Hear of Any Excavations There because Everybody Was Living in a Grass Shack or Something Similar. For Most of Their History in America African-Americans have been Slaves, there's not that Much to Their Background that an Entire University Department would be Devoted to it, a Few Courses Maybe. Would a Really Bright Person be a Professor of This. I Never Have Thought that if I Yelled at a Policeman During the Performance of His Duties that it Would Turn Out Well for Me. The Picture of that Little Fool Grousing at that Cop Looked Bad.

I liked All Those Car Songs from the 60's, I can't remember any since. "Little GTO You're Really Lookin' Fine, 3 Deuces and a 4-Speed and a 389, Listen to Her Tackin' Up Now, Listen to Her Whi-i-ine.....Gonna Save All of My Mo-ney to buy a GTO......" From Cordoba I took the Bus for 6 Hours to Rosario, a City of 900,000. A Real Nice Place, I enjoyed Walking Around in it and Went down to the Parana River (Yeah, it's a long river) to the Monumento Nacional a la Bandera, the Monument to the Flag, which is also the Crypt of Argentina's Flag Designer and One of Their Early Heroes, General Manuel Belgrano. It's a Very High Tower which I Went Up by Elevator and Where I Could See All of Rosario. To Do All This Was Very Exciting. I Went to Their Impressive Cathedral and their Nice Museums. I Walked to Entre Rios 480, the First Residence of Ernesto Guevara de la Serna after he was Born in 1928, Designed by the Reknowned Architect Alejandro Bustillo, Then and Now a Very Upscale Apartment Building, the First Home of "Che." I Went Inside but when I Tried to go up to the 2nd Floor which was Where Their Apartment Was, the Superintendent Said, No, No. Born to Educated People and in Comfortable Surroundings Che early on Developed an Intense Sympathy for the Poverty-Stricken Masses of South America. Taking a Break from his Studies Che took a Motorcycle Trip Around South America in 1951, after a Year he Returned to the University of Buenos Aires where he Completed his Courses and Received his M.D., Che was a Doctor. Functioning Only a Few Years in his Chosen Field Che Instead Embarked on a Struggle for World Revolution Ending in his Death in Bolivia in 1967.

I think that Michelle looks pretty good especially for a woman in her 40's, many of these are fat, most of the others don't look too good either. The Obama daughters seem like good girls, pretty nice family. Barack comes from a broken-home and has improved on it. Chelsea Clinton was a good girl, scoring in the upper 1 percentile on the National Merit Scholarship Test and going off to Stanford a year younger than you'd expect. Chelsea didn't get misdemeanors, Chelsea didn't face a mandatory jail sentence for her next one. Bush the Younger has a DUI, Cheney has 2. For ordinary Americans you can't even go to Canada if you have a DUI, I've known 2 who were turned back at the border. Rock and Roll. Bush the Elder won a Distinguished Flying Cross in WW II when his 3-man bomber was shot down and he was the only one to parachute and survive. He didn't even drop his bombs, he did nothing constructive in the slightest on this mission and won a DFC. Not as hard to get if you're the son of a U.S. Senator. In her youth, Laura Bush accidentally killed a friend of hers with her bad driving. One of Cheney's 2 daughters has sex with other women. Many Billions of dollars have been embezzled in this Iraq and Afghanistan never-ending fiasco, a lot of times Corrupt Foreigners have been entrusted with Billions that there is no accounting for, they've just been given mega-dollars without having to show what they did with them. We know what they did with them, kept this largesse for themselves except for that portion that they siphoned off to Bush, Cheney and their cronies. The American Public is a quart-low for twice electing Bush the Younger as President, they're going to get what they deserve but I don't deserve this, they're dragging me down with them, these Losers are trying to turn me into one and I'm not too happy about this. On a lighter note they should release Susan Atkins from prison, she's been locked up for almost 40 years and you can't do much more to somebody, the full-measure has been taken of her, let her die in the Sunshine. I don't miss Ted Kennedy, glad to see the last of him, Senator for Life, the people of Massachusetts can exercise some imagination and come up with another name, well wait, they don't, they pretty much have to. I've sat in the Senate Gallery and heard him speak, known for talking loud. The only 2 real good ones have been dead since the 60's so what's with this Kennedy thing? Michael Skakel had to go to prison when he was "40" largely due to boasting over the years that nothing could happen to him since he was a Kennedy, that he could get away with murder.

Hi Ho Everyone. I See where they just Awarded the "Daytime Emmys." I was so Disappointed, I Should have received one for the newly created "Best Telepathist" Category. I've done a lot for this Country, Can Any of You Say This? I just paid Rent for the next Month and a Half, I'm in no Rush for Anything, My Time is Your Time. I have a Real Nice 1-Bedroom Apartment, furnished, all utilities paid, Cable TV, Phone and Phone Service and Internet Included, Place is Loaded, I Live Damn Good. Rents have Come Down a Lot, I Still Hate Giving Them All that Money. They Gave me 30 Coupons for Free Meals at 2 Casinos, I Give These to the Girls Who Work at my Health Club, They Don't Make Much. They Like Them, Say the Meals are "Awesome." Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) is One of my Favorite Artists. Italian of Jewish Descent he Worked Primarily in Paris. Not Many Artists are Jewish, Marc Chagall, do Other Things. Never Successful in his Lifetime, he Only had One Exhibition and often exchanged his Paintings for Meals in Restaurants. He died at "35" from Tuberculosis exacerbated by Alcohol and Drugs. His Pregnant Girlfriend Survived Him by 2 Days, Leaping to Her Death.
