good talk

The internet current at the La Jolla Library keeps on wiping out sections of my Blog, I go to a lot of trouble for my little noodniks. I've been to Graceland and to Elvis' birthplace at his parents' 2-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis' twin brother Jesse was stillborn and is buried in Tupelo. About 15 years ago I was on a bus going from Turkey to Damascus, Syria and was talking to a young Syrian guy who spoke good English, his sister didn't speak English at all and was sitting in the seat in front of us, for some reason I brought up Elvis Presley and suddenly she turned around and stared at me. Elvis had a fascination with police work and everyone in his entourage including that doctor who gave him all those pills had to take a course in law enforcement. On July 6, 2001 Elvis' 2nd Cousin Harold Ray Presley the Sheriff of Lee County, Mississippi for those past 8 years along with his deputies was manning a routine police roadblock when a suspect wanted for kidnapping saw the roadblock and fled crashing his car and then fleeing on foot a little past midnight. At 5 A.M. a homeowner called the Sheriff to say that his dogs were barking and Sheriff Presley and deputies responded. Sheriff Presley pushed open a shed door and the suspect began firing, Sheriff Presley pushed away a deputy who by all accounts would have otherwise been shot and was himself struck several times, although mortally wounded the dying Sheriff Presley returned fire killing the suspect.
