Robert Lee and the other Rebels were much-admired throughout the North as a valiant foe. Despite inferior-manpower and vastly under-resourced, the South almost won their Independence, had Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson not been killed 2 months before, the Rebels probably would have won at Gettysburg. The Rebels' statues never bothered anyone who bled fighting against them
