good talk
Recently in Henderson, a big suburb of Las Vegas, some guy tried to rob a jewelry store at the closing time of 9 P.M. The security guard accidentally gunned-down the lady who worked there instead of the culprit. Years ago, in Barstow, Ca., halfway from L.A. and S.D. to Las Vegas, a local policeman happened-upon that real-big McDonald's that's built like a railroad station, which everybody in the West has been in, being robbed. Being a dumb-hick, the Cop engaged the armed-would be robber, in a gun battle inside the McDonald's, with the only casualty, a little girl hit and killed by a stray-bullet (?). Yesterday, I saw "The Founder" at The Orleans, as it only cost $5.25 on Tuesdays, the place was packed. It was pretty-good, I knew it would be. Long ago, I read Ray Kroc's autobiography, "Grinding It Out", short, describing the creation of an empire by a guy starting at "52". Ray said ...To me, work was as much fun as playing baseball ... You people are also this way. The movie, sketchily, but well, show's Ray's struggle and persistence, his alcoholism is depicted, for a few, alcohol rather than a depressant is a pick-me-up. I've known maybe 3 like that, there's not many. Ray steals a franchisees' wife. Joan Kroc was a sultry piano-player and singer, Ray himself, played. Ray died in 1984 at "81". Joan spent the rest of her life and after, giving-away Ray's fortune. Scott's Mum, Patty, worked for many years in administration in San Diego at a Joan Kroc's Salvation Army, and they were loaded. Joan would drop-in, and yes, play the piano. This good woman was known as St. Joan of the Arches. In the movie, Joan tells Ray ...Fortune favors the Bold...
