good talk

Due to the turnout to see "American Sniper," I know that you enjoy such stories.  A good book is "One Shot One Kill," and real good books are "Dear Mom, A Sniper's Vietnam," and "Marine Sniper." This last is about Carlos Hathcock, who is considered by many to be the best sniper of all-time.  An Arkie from the Ozarks, and raised by his Grandmother, enlisting at "17," he found a home in the Marine Corps.  Known to the N. Vietnamese as "White Feather" due to the small white feather worn from vanity on his bush-hat (he wanted them to know and fear him), Carlos had the equivalent of 3 years pay as the bounty that the N. Vietnamese placed on his head, killing every one who tried to claim it.  His rationale was that he was protecting ...Those kids dressed-up like Marines that those bastards wanted to kill...  If you want to read true-drama, read how Carlos went inch-by-inch (for this one he wore no white feather) towards the N. Vietnamese General's house for 4 nights and 3 days, knowing that if detected he'd be tortured and killed, at the dawn of the 4th night the General came out of his house, stretched and was shot through the chest from 600 yards, an ordinary-shot for Carlos.  Carlos was given no advance information about the Assignment he was offered other than he probably wouldn't survive, he accepted.  Going through his first Tour of Vietnam unscathed, during his 2nd Tour, Carlos was hitching a ride on a halftrack that hit a landmine, due to his heroic-nature he pulled Marines off the burning-vehicle and was badly-burned, due to his wounds he eventually died prematurely at "56."
