good talk

On March 26, 1973, I was sitting on a bed in a Ft. Lauderdale motel-room with a buncha guys watching Bill Walton hit 21 of 22 shots in UCLA's victory over Memphis State in the NCAA Championship Game, I've never hit 21 of 22 shooting-around in the backyard, how could this be done in a pressure-game.  Bill holds the NCAA record for highest field goal percentage in a season, .763 (over 3 of 4) in 1973, and for a career, .686 from 1972 to 1974.  From Helix High outside of San Diego, where Scott also went, when an assistant told John Wooden about Walton, Wooden said that it would be impossible for a player as good as the one he described to be in usually basketball-poor San Diego.
